Joined for a Common Purpose
At 7:00 on this Saturday morning, I am standing on the curb outside the Charlotte Douglas airport with sixteen people, most of whom are strangers to me. We are joined for one common purpose and that is to serve and help those we meet in Haiti. For this week, we are “Bless Back Worldwide.”
Our team of seventeen consists of doctors, physician assistants, a nurse, dentist, dental assistant, photographer, writer, attorney, athletic trainer, landscape architect, healthcare consultant, and two high school students. We were chosen for this trip because of specific talents and God-given gifts. What a humbling opportunity to use those gifts God blessed us with to, in turn, bless others.
This is my second trip to Haiti and this time I am going with a different perspective. The fear of the unknown has been replaced with the anticipation of seeing how God will reveal Himself this week. On my previous trip to Haiti, I witnessed a medical miracle. I may never in my lifetime experience anything on that level again. But I have learned that when we humble ourselves to the point that we relinquish all control to Him, it is then that He can use us in ways we never imagined possible.
I look forward to seeing what He will do in the lives of our team over the next seven days. Strangers at the moment, but soon to be friends for life.
